How can it be that we have Pro life Deomcrats online even though we are a pro choice party.
We have proud pro gun rights Democrats that win endorsements from our nemesis the NRA.
But it seems that only Newliberals (me, Craig Farmer) is the only Democrat proudly supporting traditional marriage and standing against gay rights.
We need to re-assert the mainstream sensibility in our party. I truly want to win elections both on a national and the local levels. But since we've hit this losing streak, Republicans have a chance to roll back the radical gay rights movement. Unfortunately it seems they are intent on ruining unions, cutting taxes for the wealthy, and eliminating programs that help the American people.
It may be up to us as Democrats to save the nation from decadence. We have to build up a positive notion of marriage that is exclusive and resistant to divorce.
Democrats, we have to have the courage to stand up to our own side and re-affirm marriage as the union of one man and one woman for life.
How can something so simple and good be so controversial in our ranks?
