Cabinet posts in the United States government can be ranked by importance:
"A" level:
Secretary of State
Secretary of Defense
Secretary of treasury (recent upgrade)
Attorney General
They attract the most qualified people, get the most indepdent exposure from the press, and make critical decisions
There aren't any Latinos or liberals (progressives) in the top cabinet positions.
