Moving past the Oil spill

I will admit that it looks like the left wingers have the upper hand politically when it comes to a massive oil spill that is threatening our coasts.

But true politicos should be able to think beyond the moment and make good decisions.

That said, I think the country should move ahead with an "all of the above" energy policy.

It's the right thing policy-wise and politically.

If the current oil spill is terrorism whether foreign or domestic, we should send the message that we won't change our policy based on violence.

If it is an accident then we should fix it, learn from it, and move on.

This is a good chance for President Obama to show competence and vision.

As a nation we need to eventually move past oil, but that is not for a generation.

It is better for "the planet" for these spills to happen in our jurisdiction, because we have values and protocol that are much more modern than say a third-world nation. We shouldn't be dependent on others for energy. So as we move towards wind, solar, electric, nuclear, etc. we need to stay in the oil fields today in as safe a way as possible.
