We need to strengthen marriage

This essay explains the detrimental effect, the dissolution of the institution of marriage has had in the black community. It gives a powerful argument against the gay rights (marriage) crusade going on in America.

One place where I disagree is when the author says,

"If the black illegitimacy rate were not nearly three times the rate of whites’, I would have few qualms about gay marriage"

While the author gives one powerful argument in support of traditional marriage and against the redefinition there are many others:

tradition
religion
high standards
etc.

Meanwhile, the author is at his best when the article states:

And as has been pointed out many times before, it is exclusively heterosexuals who have eroded the institution of marriage through easy divorce, increasing rates of single-parenting, “blended” families, and co-habitation. But just because marriage is already in bad shape, for reasons wholly unrelated to gay marriage, doesn’t mean that gay marriage won’t weaken it further.

I also hope it is not inevitable that the gay rights lobby prevail and ruining the sanctity of marriage. I think we change momemtum through calm persuasion, and the power of the truth.
