life lessons: pain of death

As human beings we need to fight the natural instinct towards depression that afflicts us all. The idea of death, ours and those we love causes us to do many negative things. But as higher thinking beings we can overcome this and triumph. One way to look at life is to first of all hope for as long and healthy existence as possible, and then try to live every day as though it was your last and to be proud of who and what you've become.

I understand the difficulty of this. Everyday, in countless ways we are seeking ways to express our destructive urges. Most of the time we neturalize these impulses into harmless jokes or other inane activities. Just when we've conquered our own "issues", here comes other people with theirs.

Yet, persist, do as well as you can, and celebrate the effort.
