You can't proclaim there wasn't anything untoward, and now say you overlooked something once the story hits the press. Roland Burris lied to the American people. He has mistated facts under oath during the impeachment trial of Blagojevitch. He stated he had no contact with the governor or his people when that clearly wasn't true.
Had the truth been known, Burris quite possibly wouldn't have been seated by the Senate for reason of possible impropriety. His defenders kept saying there wasn't any hint of scandal.
That is not true now. If you lied about this, he could be lieing about more.
Resign now.
