2008 exit polls:

2004 exit polls:
Young voters were 16 percent of the electorate
--------------------------------------------------
What has gone un-noticed is that the increased participation of younger voters was at the expense of the middle aged 45-64 group, rather than what you would expect from older voters.
Older voters (over 65) were 16 percent in each election cycle.
The net effect of this is that extremely pro-Obama voters replaced more moderately pro-Obama voters.
