Congress should mandate Electronic voting with paper trail

Maryland voters will soon go back to paper ballots, and this makes absolutely no sense!

It is unacceptable to have touch screen voting with no paper trail.

It is unacceptable to have paper ballots.

It is clear we should have touchscreen/electronic voting in all 50 states, with a printed receipt to verify the vote.

I am really confused as to why this has not been mandated by the federal government, or incentivized throughout the states.

I honestly don't understand what would be the argument against it unless it is money.

But the cost is so small in relation to the benefit, and if the Feds pay for it , then it really would be something worth adding to the national debt.
