Today's most important Poll number!

CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll. Aug. 23-24, 2008. N=463 registered voters nationwide. MoE ± 4.5. RV = registered voters.

"We'd like to get your overall opinion of some people in the news. As I read each name, please say if you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of these people -- or if you have never heard of them. Bill Clinton."

Favorable 53
Unfavorable 44

Imagine all of the scandals both real and imagined that Bill Clinton has been involved in. The worst in my opinion being charges that he raped a woman. I still hold out hope that I just don't understand politics enough to know why:

1. the press stopped investigating the story
2. why Clinton never gave a different version if Juanita's version wasn't true.

Bill Clinton has changed American history in an important way. Almost anyone with a modicum of self-esteem will fight against any charges of corruption or unethical behavior and have realistic hopes of not only surviving but succeeding.

This is ultimately bad for our society as it encourages people not to take responsibility in a serious way, and avoid real accountability.

We all make mistakes and would want another chance but as a country we must know that we should desire to set and hold high standards for the sake of our nation.

We must be able to like the political policies and still be able to discipline our own.
