McCain promises to balance the budget

Balancing the budget is a political gimmick. We need to balance our priorities, and shift on debt to our children that makes sense. Certainly debt to build the roads and other infrastructure makes sense. As well, as debt for reforming entitlement programs, and other important institutions in society.

It is bad to incur debt for current consumption. We shouldn't be going into debt to fund tax cuts or more spending.

Democrats should attack John McCain as a Republican who won't be able to make the long-term investment decisions to maintain our greatness and still be fiscally sound.
