Democrats should support drilling

As Oil reaches a new high, Democrats as a Party should support responsible drilling throughout the country. This should include in Alaska in the wildlife preserves, California and Florida coasts, and anywhere where we can boost supply. Even if the resulting oil won't be on the market for some years, it will change the psychology of the markets to let the world know that America will not allow our way of life to be held hostage to the Middle East any longer.

Of course we should find ways for technology to improve the situation, conserve where possible, and find alternatives to fossil fuels altogether. But our party must bow to reality and drill for the sake of our American way of life.
