Why Jasmine Crockett matters

Outgoing Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has increased her profile even in defeat while seeking the Democratic nomination for US Senate in Texas this year.  She has proven herself to be an entertaining content creator on various platforms while showing why she’s an effective lawmaker. Right now she’s beloved by her base of voters/supporters who include black voters (women esp), young voters, and anti-establishment progressives.  She holds a unique position because of her proximity to the establishment , while not losing her core. It’s a good bet to who dislikes her more between white progressives help males) or the Maga right wing.  Crockett is currently traveling the country supporting local and state candidates that represent her values. She has been under pressure from supporters of the victorious Texas Senate candidate James Talarico to more vocally support him and encourage the black community to rally around him. She has dutifully explained the racism she experienced in the Primary, and demanded that the burden is on the candidate and his supporters to fix the problems in order to earn the trust of more people in the black community.  That she is not just falling in line is good politics for Crockett and the black community.  It’s important that those who claimed she was unelectable don’t get to just use her visibility without accountability.  We as a community have progressed as far as we have in this country and the Democratic Party specifically through this such intelligence and pressure.  Crockett is properly leveraging the fact that black women are the base of the Democratic Party. That black men are the second most loyal constituency.  If moderates or white progressives don’t like this, they need to form a new coalition to win.  Unless or Until they do Jasmine Crockett will be respected and she has a great future in politics if she wants it.
