"Only 80%"

An AARP ad for a supplemental insurance policy says "Medicare only pays 80%", so people should buy extra coverage.

This is a big problem in our society. People looking at things the wrong way.

Medicare and Social Security are successfull government programs. We should celebrate that, and then see where we want to go in the future.

I suspect that some fundamental changes will be necessary. This will probably include benefit cuts of some type.

But if people discount 80% as an "only", then we are in really big trouble.

The Republicans won't pursue a serious Conservative agenda. The Democrats have this uphill battle to keep things working, and actually try to improve them.
