Trust me I do support the troops. The idea of them, and the individuals who actually do the grunt work.
BUT PLEASE!
Stop all of "the men and women of the armed services are the reason we're able to do what we do" mantras. Yes I know it is true, but to keep saying it is to devalue the meaning of it.
It is similar to the public professions of "God". "One nation under God", "In God we Trust" they have become simple bromides.
If you really respect the military then vote for people who support your vision, donate to charities, and find other ways to show your gratitude. By continually repeating platitudes you associate yourself with people who aren't serious and may in fact be hiding behind the sentiment.
