I'm not sure if this was the reason, but one of the effects of 2 dems in New York working with the other side will be to stop the advancement of the radical gay rights marriage agenda.
I hope so. I hope it begins to turn a tide against these extreme leftists. It is still doubtful because they control the media, much of government and have the wind at their backs.
But sometimes history turns in strange ways.

I am a committed Democrat and wish my party would fight for traditional moral values while being progressive in offering opportunities like school vouchers to every family.
