Top 3 Bush Administration accomplishments

3. Leave No Child Behind
Mandating that all sub-groups had to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) rather than allowing schools or districts to mask failure with overall group statistics. The President fought against the "soft bigotry of low expectations" by demanding that "No child be left behind". I disagree with the government being involved in education, except to support a universal voucher program, but within the current context this was exceptional.

2. Dedication to cutting taxes
The President ran in 1999 and 2000 on a tax cut in what was thought of as good times. He described it in terms of "insurance" to keep the economy going. When it was found out that the economy was slowing, he decided to call it (and make it) a stimulus plan to help promote growth.
Thoughout his term, The President always promoted lower taxes. He did it for all Americans who paid taxes. While I disagreed with leaving out people who pay payroll and other taxes, as though they aren't tax payers, and also wish we came up with a completely new system to collect revenues-such as a luxury tax/or some auction system for high demand/low supply events; again I respect the discipline of President Bush to pursue his agenda. I only don't understand why he allowed the latest tax cuts to be temporary. He must have really thought Republicans would always control Congress and never let them expire. Well Democrats will certainly let the ones for higher earners end and their taxes will rise once again.

1. Protecting America
I totally don't blame President Bush for the 9/11 attacks. That was the fault of the terrorists primarily, and all Americans both inside and out of government who weren't serious about the nature of the Islamic terrorist threat. Yet, since then President Bush has done a great job, when reasonable people would have thought it couldn't be done. Bush has stayed on offense in Afganistan and Iraq; He has detained thousands before they could plan and attack; The President has done many things that Democrats have attacked him on, but I suspect they are part of the reasons for his success. So whether I agree or disagree with his specifics, America has been relatively safe for the last 7 years. President Obama has a tough act to follow. I'm confident he will do a good job also.
