Democrats: meet Charlene Cothran

Democrats should acknowledge that many people reject the idea of a gay lifestyle while others have fomerly embraced it, and now work to change our country. Our part is the majority and governing party. We should be because on balance we are in the best position to make the right choices. However, the left wing extremists and the gay activists who refuse to have honest debate whether within party or in general threaten the vibrancy of our great republic. We can find a way to respect the dignity of every person and still promote traditional values that have and will continue to make this country strong. Below is a story of one individual and her experience. Democrats need to embrace her story just as emphatic or even more than those of the left wing.

The Rebirth of Venus

Charlene Cothran, publisher and editor-in-chief of Venus Magazine , a national publication for African-American gays and lesbians she launched 13 years ago, made a startling announcement: After 29 years as a gay activist, she's become a Christian, renounced her homosexuality, and changed the format of her magazine to spread the gospel to the gay community. Amy Tracy, whose own similar conversion story was told in an earlier Christianity Today article, interviewed Cothran about her new direction.
